The WA8 should be powered OFF before changing the tubes setting. This allows the circuit to reset. Otherwise, distortion can be heard in the audio stream.

Please try the following recommendation.

- power OFF WA8

- check that the 2 / 3 tube switch is in the locked position in either 2 or 3 tube setting

- disconnect 3.5mm and USB inputs

- wait for about 1 min.

- reconnect USB source to WA8

- Power ON WA8 and wait 30 sec. for the tubes to warm up

- set the volume knob to 4 position and play some music on the source

Best practices of using WA8 are not to leave the amplifier ON without a headphone connected for an extended period of time. All tube amplifiers should have a "load" when powered ON. Turn OFF if not actively in use for more than 30 min. Also, use WA8 Eclipse on a desk or flat surface with clearance around the amp for airflow. Do not operate WA8 in a bag or a case or in direct sunlight on a hot day. This applies to almost all vacuum tube amplifiers so not specific to WA8 Eclipse. Other than these common practices, WA8 Eclipse should provide many years of listening pleasures.
