The group The Gipsy Kings, which played an important role in popularizing the flamenco style, was born in the village of Arles, in the south of France. It was organized by the brothers Nicolas and Andre Reyes, the sons of the flamenco singer José Reyes, who attracted their cousins Jacques, Maurice and Tonino Ballardo to participate in the group. At first, the band was called Los Reyes, but since the team constantly moved from place to place, playing at weddings, parties and even just on the streets, led a wandering life, like gypsies, it was decided to rename the band Gipsy Kings. The musicians performed traditional flamenco, in the foreground there was a multi-tiered guitar texture, in which the honed leader-part of Tonino stood out, and the passionate voice of Nicholas.
