hi I'm michael wynne from in the mix,and today I want to talk about the Stellar 45 Driver,which powers the DT Pro X range Headphones.
Its a new driver design or sound transducer,which is developed, engineered and built in Heilbronn, in Germany,and it takes these headphones to a new level of performance,which is previously unseen in its class.

its quite complex,but i want to talk about a couple of the technical innovations that make this so special and which translate to an incredible sound in these headphones.
Stellar 45 is a dynamic driver design,and it features a high grade neodymium magnet,a three-layer diaphragm and a special,lightweight,copper-clad wire voice coil.
And I want to start by talking about that voice coil.Its made from a lightweight copper-clad wire,and this means that these's an excellent tradeoff between electrical conductivity and the weight or density of the material used.
And this leads to many benefits for the listener.
The first is that the voice coil can be lighter,so that it can respond much more quickly to transient material.
It results in both a great transient and release response because the voice coil can recover quickly when there's no more sound playing.
And this just means that the headphone is going to more accurately recreate the sound,the way that it's supposed to.
A further benefit of that lightweight wire material means that the voice coil can actually be made longer than it was before,so we now have an overhang voice coil design.
And what this means is that it can take much more advantage of the full range of magnetic flux so that the voice coil can actually push the diaphragm much further.So you got a longer diaphragm throw,and what this means for a listener is a much higher maximum SPL level before you're getting audible distortion.
The driver's frequency responses from 5 Hertz to 40000 Hertz,which you'll probably know is far below and above the range of normal human hearing,which is from 20 to 20000 Hertz.But this headroom,both in terns of the frequency response and that maximum SPL level just means that ant sound within the audible range is going to be reproduced with excellent precision.
The next thing I want to talk about is the diaphragm design itself, so it's a three later diaphragm,and what this consists of is an internal dampening layer surrounded by two high-grade polymer layers.And these are both made of PEEK,which is P E E K or polyether ether ketone,which is a high grade polymer.It's more commonly found actually in the medical and aerospace sectors.
The reason for using these materials is that not only does it result in an excellent driver design that sounds great,but they're stable and they're going to last a long time.The idea is to make a pair of headphones that is consistent across a wide range of temperatures,humidities and also throughout the entire lifespan of the headphones.
So all of these technical innovations together result in the Stellar 45 Driver delivering an incredible frequency response,derailed transient response and also very high SPL levels with low harmonic distortion.
